While in Taos, New Mexico last month for the ‘Survival of the Creative Mind’ Conference, we had the opportunity to stay and live for a few nights in the Earthship Community, renting out their Phoenix House for the weekend.  Built entirely out of recycled materials and requiring a yearly utility bill of less than $100, the Phoenix House and the rest of the Earthship community are amazing structures, and if you’re ever in Taos, NM – be sure to stop by the visitor centre! For more information of the Earthship community and visionary Michael Reynolds, visit the Earthship Website.

    ILLUSION

Last month we were in Taos, New Mexico for the 14th annual Survival of The Creative Mind Conference that Hitomi hosts every year.  The annual conference, which first took place in 1998, is a weekend of creative brainstorming around a specific word – this year the word being ‘Illusion’.  We were lucky enough to have Tomas De Bruyne of Belgium at this year’s conference as our special guest as well!  Take a look at some images from the conference below, and visit our Facebook page for more great photos from Illusion!

On the Drive home from Symposium we happened to stop at the Darlingtonia Preserve off Hwy 101 on the Oregon coast just north of Florence.  This small park is on a peat bog & has an amazing concentration of Darlingtonia, a carnivorous California pitcher plant better known as Cobra Lily.  It’s lime green color was so vivid & fresh – a real visual oasis!  A couple more stops at the dunes and beaches was a nice way to decompress after the jam-packed week in San Francisco!
